Caleb Franzen is a 2019 LHP/OF with a 6-3 160 lb. frame from West Linn, OR who attends West Linn. Large frame with long limbs and a lean, athletic build. Frame projects to support continued strength. Primary left handed pitcher with a simple rock step delivery. Stays flexed on back side at gather with slight coil over back leg. Utilized drop and drive actions while working to the plate and lands in line at finish. Long arm swing at take back and released from a loose, mid three-quarters arm slot. Fastball comes out of hand clean with good running action to arm side in the low 80's, topped at 84 miles per hour. Showed very good arm speed with a changeup offering that had sinking action to the bottom of the zone in the mid 70's. Flashed a curveball that had 2/7 shape with loose spin and good depth. Showed very good command for both fastball and curveball, spotting to each edge of the plate. Also worked out defensively from first base, centers the baseball well and funnels out front with clean glove actions. Moves well to each side and showed the ability to throw with accuracy while on the run, topped at 70 miles per hour. Left handed hitter with a balanced, open stance and simple front side trigger. Coils hands at load and works to contact on a loosed, naturally leveraged path. Swing showed solid fluidity throughout and primarily looked to turn the barrel to contact and work to pull side. Outstanding student.
