2006 California Uncommitted Showcase
Bryson Rahier is a 2007 C/IF with a 6'2'', 185 lb. frame from San Bernardino CA, who attends Cajon HS. Selected as a Top 10 Prospect at this event. Rahier signed with San Jose State in the early signing period. He is going to now get plenty of attention from the pro scouts in the spring season. He has a strong, athletic body that is well-proportioned. Rahier is an athletic catcher, with strong catch/throw skills, a big arm, and he switch-hits, with power. He even got on the mound as the last pitcher in the event and sat at 89 mph for most of his outing, also showing good feel for the splitter. If he doesn't make it as a position player, which is unlikely, he could have a future as a closer. Offensively he is a switch-hitter but because he only made it for two games and only faced right handers, we only saw him hit from the left side. He showed easy power potential from the left side, though at this point he should be classified more as a line driver hitter. Rahier has good hands and a consistently good hand patch. He is a middle of the line-up type hitter. Defensively he has a strong arm that tracks on line to the bag. His exchange is quick and his feet are quick. Rahier is an athlete behind the plate. He blocks and recovers very well and plays with lively energy. He clearly enjoys catching. He is a good receiver, with quiet, subtle actions, and he presents a nice target. Rahier is a good draft prospect for the upcoming draft.
