Ethan Hensley is a 2022 RHP/OF with a 6-1 160 lb. frame from Chesapeake, VA who attends Great Bridge. Medium, athletic frame with broad shoulders and long limbs, lean and projectable build with room to fill throughout moving forward. Runs well, posted a 6.71 60-yard dash. Primary righthanded pitcher, worked exclusively out of the stretch, begins with a leg lift up past belt and works into a long and whippy arm action through the back working to a three-quarters release point. Lands slightly closed and works across body at release, fastball topped out at 81 mph and showed some sinking life from release and filled the zone while inducing ground ball contact. Curveball kept hitters off balance with 10-4 shape, changeup plays well out of hand up to 74 mph. Smooth actions in the outfield and moves to the ball well, long arm action through the back, quick transfer, shows accuracy on throws. Righthanded hitter, begins with a narrow base and a high hand set and back elbow in the box; upper body dominant swing and projects with additional lower half incorporated into swing. Shows some whip to the barrel and quickness to hands through the zone, gets downward with swing path at times. Creates some impact at the point of contact, hands start tight, can refine overall path for consistent barreled contact, works the middle of the field. Very good student.
