Michael Hopkinson is a 2021 SS/2B, 3B with a 6-1 175 lb. frame from Mobile, AL who attends Faith Academy. He ran a 7.02 second sixty. A primary shortstop with a medium frame. He works through the ball with clean glove actions on the forehand and the backhand, he showed plenty of athleticism in his round making strong throws at 85 mph from multiple arm angels well on the move. From the right side of the plate he starts open and triggers the swing with a big leg lift, his barrel works smooth through the zone with juice in the barrel while working up the middle to the pull side with a 93 mph exit velocity, the swing has some power projection with the potential for added strength moving forward. Named to the 2020 Gulf Coast Prospect Showcase Top Prospect List. Very good student. Verbal commitment to Samford.
