Casey Haerther is a 2006 first baseman from Chatsworth, CA with a big frame that shows strength at 6-3, 215 lbs. He will need to stay on top of his conditioning as he gets older and more physically mature. Haether's brother Cody is a power hitting prospect in the Cardinals system and Casey shows the same type of power and skill set. Haether ran the 60 in 7.45 and threw 76 mph during infield drills. He moves well around the bag and should be an asset defensively at first base. Haerther has very, very strong hands that he uses well to swing the wood bat. He's quick to the ball with his hands and gets to his front side quickly with good balance, which enables him to drive the ball to all fields. He hit one ball that was 99 mph off the bat and has the type of swing and strength that enables him to hit with both power and for average. He can take the ball out of the yard to any field. We've never seen him with metal in his hands but he could hurt someone with his swing and power.
