Matt Schavone is a 2020 OF/RHP with a 6-1 175 lb. frame from Fullerton, CA who attends Servite. Medium, athletic frame with narrow shoulders and a projectable build, has present strength and additional room to fill throughout. ran a 7.32 60-yard dash. Primary outfielder, takes short and quick steps moving towards the ball, fields the ball out front and shows a quick transfer into a tight and compact arm action; extra steps through the ball with footwork, works on top of throws and shows carry out of hand with big arm strength, repeats well. On the mound begins with a medium leg lift with quick tempo, comes down the mound well with lower half working to a high three-quarters release point with a short arm action. Fastball topped out at 86 mph, able to work to either side of the plate, natural running life out of his hand. Mixed an 11-5 shaped curveball at 73 mph, downward action to it when on top of the ball. Righthanded hitter, begins with a tall and narrow stance in the box with a high hand set and back elbow at the plate. Utilizes a contact oriented approach at the plate, linear to downward path through the zone and works to pull side. Employs a leg lift trigger, gets to front side early at times, shows quickness to hands with occasional lift out front.
