Elian Almanzar is a 2018 RHP with a 6-4 200 lb. frame from Apopka, FL who attends High School Of Commerce. Nice pitcher's build, good size with long arms and good projectability. Over the top release point with some back arch, creates good angle to the plate, works down in the zone well and maintains vertical command, will put hesitations in his delivery to try to create deception, tends to throw harder out of the stretch. Fastball topped out at 89 mph early, mostly straight with some occasional glove side cutting action. Primary fastball pitcher, only attempted a few off speed pitches with a slower am and limited present feel. Will need to develop secondary pitches to take the next step.
