Anthony Cortese is a 2021 C/1B, 3B with a 5-8 175 lb. frame from Fremont, CA who attends St. Thomas More School, Inc..Medium build with present physicality and room to still strengthen as he continues to develop. Primary catcher, sets up in a side straddle crouch, receives and transfers cleanly, easy lower half, replaces feet well. Posted a 2.04 second pop time down to the second base bag in the catching workout. At the plate, uses a crouched and upright stance with a simple stride trigger. Quick hands through the zone, stays short and direct to the baseball. Good feel for the barrel, ability to drive the baseball into either gap. Professional looking batting practice round, maturity at the plate will carry. Excellent student in the classroom as well.
