Preston Herce is a 2022 SS/C/IF with a 5-11 195 lb. frame from Key West, FL who attends Key West. Medium, athletic frame with square shoulders and present strength proportioned throughout frame. Ran a 6.61 60-yard dash. Primary shortstop, rounds the ball well with footwork and shows a clean transfer out of the glove, shorter arm action with a higher slot on throws across the diamond, hands play well out front, carry and strength across the diamond. Similar fast arm with a compact arm action, quick release, takes short steps moving towards the ball, shows one hop accuracy to the plate. Right-handed hitter, begins with a slightly open stance and a high hand set and back elbow at the plate; utilizes a short stride moving into contact. Works on a linear path through the zone and employs a line drive approach, looks to work to all parts of the field at point of contact, gets the barrel out front, occasionally gets under the ball at contact, some jump off the barrel when squared. Excellent student.
