Chris Armstrong is a 2006 left handed pitcher from Owasso, OK with a short thick build at 5-10, 200 lbs. He has a high effort delivery with a full hip turn and does a very good job of hiding the ball from the hitter. Despite his delivery, Armstrong has never had any trouble throwing strikes and working ahead in counts to our experience. Armstrong's fastball topped out at 90 mph in Atlanta, a few mph's short of where we most often see him. His fastball has good life and it looks like it jumps on hitters. Armstrong's best pitch is a 75 mph curveball that has very tight spin and good depth. It can be a strikeout pitch for him at the next level and beyond. Armstrong's change up also shows good promise at 71 mph with sink. Armstrong is a tough competitor who loves to be on the mound. Conditioning will always be an issue with his body type but Armstrong is a good athlete with a strong work ethic. He is also a good student off the field.
