Jeff Spillane is a 2009 RHP/IF with a 6'1'', 180 lb. frame from Houston, TX, who attends Houston Christian HS. Named to the Top Prospect Team at this event. Spillane was one of the top '09 prospects at the event. He has an extra large frame with present strength. On the mound he throws from a high 3/4 arm slot with good arm action and arm speed. Spillane throws with minimal effort and stays online and balanced through his release. He gets a good downhill angle on his fastball that topped out at 81 mph, and he projects to throw harder in the future. Spillane has pitchability and can throw his off-speed pitches for strikes. His curveball has depth and 68 mph, and is already a strike out pitch for him. He mixes his pitches well keeping hitters off-balance, and he struck out 9 in 4 innings while not allowing an earned run. At the plate he is a right handed hitter who hits from an upright and straight away stance. Spillane has solid bat speed with raw power. His upside is on the mound, and he is a good student as well.
