Pierce Anderson is a 2023 3B/RHP, 1B, OF with a 6-1 205 lb. frame from Johnston, IA who attends Johnston. Medium frame with a lean, athletic build and wiry strength. Frame projects for additional strength while maintaining athleticism. Primary third baseman with smooth paced footwork while traveling to and surrounding the baseball. Displayed good range will moving to glove side. Funnels out front and worked through exchange efficiently. Showed a loose, extended arm slot while throwing across the infield topping at 79 mph. Right handed hitter with a spread, slightly open stance and quick toe tap trigger. Works to contact with rotational lower half actions. Loose hand path to baseball with a linear barrel plane through extension. Looks to stay behind the ball at contact while working to the middle of the field and pull side gap. Also pitched utilizing a side step to high leg lift delivery. Worked in line to the plate with lower half while releasing from a three-quarters arm slot. Fastball jumped out of hand well producing heavy run through the zone in the low 80's, topped at 84 mph. Tends to slow arm speed slightly with a curveball offering that showed 11/5 shape with later depth in the mid 60's. Also flashed a straight changeup offering in the upper 60's. Shows a high ceiling on the mound with projection for additional velocity. Good student. Named to the 2020 Fall Midwest Workout Showcase, Top Prospect List.
