Benjamin Raphael is a 2023 MIF/RHP with a 5-9 141 lb. frame from Briarcliff Manor, NY who attends Briarcliff. Large, athletic frame with long limbs and a lean, projectable build with room to fill throughout. Ran a 7.68 60-yard dash. Primary middle infielder, active footwork on the charge, fields the ball out front and works into a compact arm action, can drop slot on throws with intent, accurate throws across the diamond. Also pitched, small side step moving into a belt high leg lift, drop and drive in lower half mechanics but lands on line. Long and loose arm action working to a mid three-quarters release point; fastball topped out at 75 mph with sinking life and able to generate ground ball contact. Flashed changeup with sinking action at 69 mph, turns it over well, feel for curveball will continue to develop. Righthanded hitter, begins with a wide base and a high hand set and back elbow; utilizes a leg lift trigger for timing. Patient approach, loads hands back at start of swing, keeps them inside the ball throughout swing. Will unlock strength with additional extension, flashes jump off the barrel when squared to the middle and pull side parts of the field.
