Charlie Neil is a 2008 SS/C/IF with a 6'3'', 175 lb. frame from Dallas TX, who attends St. Mark's School of Texas. He has a very projectable athletic body with some present strength and tone. Neil is light on his feet for a big young man on defense but his projectable size and 7.59 60 speed paint him as a corner defender down the road. Neil has a long, slinging arm action and very good arm strength. His hands work well and third base is the obvious best spot for him in the future. Neil is a switch hitter who showed solid ability from the right side and top prospect hitting skills from the left side. From the left side, Neil has very good bat speed and plus power potential. He has strong hands and can hit the ball deep in the zone and still drive it hard. Neil gets very good coil and is balanced to start his swing and times his swing very well. Neil is fundamentally sound from the right side but doesn't have the same type of bat speed he does from the left side. Either way, he's a very good looking young hitter. Neil is a young 2008 prospect who should get national recruiting attention should he continue to develop. He is also a very good student.
