Ethan Schmidt is a 2024 LHP/1B, OF with a 6-1 145 lb. frame from Port Saint Lucie, FL who attends Fort Pierce Central. Feature a long, lanky frame with tons of room to develop. Primary left-handed pitcher. Exclusively threw from stretch. Utilizes a tall and fall delivery with low effort down the mound. Could throw with more intent. Uses a long arm action out of a 3/4 slot. Ball comes out clean. The fastball sat 73-76 mph, topping out at 77 mph, with short armside run. Paired with big breaking curveball at 60-62 mph with 1-7 action. Creates good shape on pitch. Also showed strong feel for a changeup in the upper-60’s. Turns it over well to generate fading action. Confident in the offering. Will throw early in counts. Solid three-pitch mix with the ability to throw them all for strikes. Worked out at first base as well. Patient approach. Can make the routine play. Hands get stabby at time out front at times. Arm translated well across the diamond. Right-handed hitter. Utilizes a balanced, slightly closed stance. Hand drop load leads to uppercut bat path. Uses a line drive approach with the ability to use the entire field. Flashed some feel for barrel. Could get lower half more involved. Adding strength to build will help boost power within profile. Ran a 7.66 60-yard dash. Very good student.
