John Franchi is a 2024 RHP/3B with a 5-11 190 lb. frame from Nanuet, NY who attends Clarkstown South Senior. Compact, durable frame with strength throughout and room to physically mature. Primary right-handed pitcher that worked exclusively from the stretch in this look. Incorporates a belt high leg lift into balance and good lower half movements down the slope. Fastball worked comfortably in the low-to-mid 80s with good spin profile and spin rates in the 2400 RPM range. Repeats well from a high three-quarters arm slot, pounds the zone effortlessly and attacks hitters with his fastball. Mixed in 12-6 shaped curveball with vertical depth to it and spin rates in the 2300s (RPM), while completing his repertoire with a replicated changeup that showed some fade to it. Secondary infielder with a fundamentally sound defensive skill set. Moves well laterally from side-to-side, displayed a clean funnel out in-front and produced accurate throws up to 84 mph across the diamond during drills. Right-handed hitter that hits from a slightly open stance with a high, tight hand set and leg lift trigger. Whole field approach with looseness to his hands and good feel for the barrel. Displayed plenty of present bat speed and strength at impact. Simple, repeatable stroke with some gap-to-gap power potential. Good Student. Named to the 2023 New York Indoor Showcase Top Prospect List.
