2022 West Academic Showcase (Wed-Thurs)
Degan Hensley is a 2023 C/1B, 3B with a 5-10 185 lb. frame from West Hills, CA who attends Chaminade College Preparatory. Solid size to the frame with good physical gains to both halves. Catcher, shows quickness to the transfer out of the crouch. Strong throws on a line with some carry. Arm strength showed in drills. Right-handed pitcher, works from a high three-quarter slot and longer arm stroke through the back. Fastball and slider mixed well, as the slider showed late 8-4 shape and bite. Forced soft contact and mixed tempos. Right-handed batter from a narrow stance and high back elbow. Gets and plane, gets rotated and works to the pull side. Shows strength in the hands with more in store. Promising two-way ability. Very good student.
