2007 Pitcher/Catcher Indoor Showcase
Casey Crosby is a 2007 LHP with a 6'4'', 190 lb. frame from Elburn IL, who attends Kaneland HS. He has an excellent pro profile type of athletic frame, with square shoulders, long arms and very projectable strength. Crosby has a well paced multi-pieced delivery with a long arm action and a high extended 3/4's release point. He finishes balanced and way out front, especially on his fastball. Crosby has easy fastball velocity, pitching comfortably at 91-92 mph and touching 94 mph. He threw two types of breaking balls and two types of change ups, with varying degrees of quality. His best breaking ball was a 84 mph slider that had solid spin and bite to it and that probably should be his featured secondary pitch. Crosby's arm dragged on his curveball and he had a stiff wristed release, which led to soft spin and a flat break. The change ups are a work in progress and he's likely working on different grips at present, which is good. Crosby has elite level velocity for a southpaw and how his off-speed pitches develop will determine his ceiling. He's a potential very high pick this spring. Crosby is also an excellent student who has signed with Illinois.
