Connor Ferguson is a 2024 1B/RHP with a 6-4 190 lb. frame from Davidson, NC who attends Community School of Davidson. Large and well proportioned build, uses his length across his tools. He posted a 7.50 in the 60 yard dash. Flashed younger actions getting use to the frame, added looseness and physical development has time to connect to his skills. Primary 1B worked out the middle infield as well, slight stiffness in his mechanics but makes it work. Some agility displayed and a quick arm, has an easy approach and sound transfer with great arm strength for his age that can work different angles. Can get more out the lower half showing limited range side to side but has good reach and present glove skills. Arm action is smooth and controlled, good catch and throw ability. Developing footwork, the potential is there and fits the part at 1B with more to come as progresses the athleticism. Also pitched, the right hander topped the fastball out at 81 mph and flashed a developing hybrid breaking ball. Works out of the stretch with a long stride releasing at a tight 3/4 arm slot. Pitches flat despite size, not the same arm path pitch to pitch looks like he is finding the fluid arm action that works best for him. There is some quality to the change up showing depth and consistency. Frontside leaks some, easy adjustment to tunnel his pitches and work downhill. Upside to how well he hides the ball, some deceptive quality in his delivery. Right handed hitter, starts with an open stance and high back elbow set. Leg lift trigger has some feel for timing. There is some pop off the barrel when he connects one with a full swing. Loose hands and showed a longer barrel path that cuts off. Weight shift stays back swinging off the backside. Projects with tighter mechanics and added force through the ball. Excellent student.
