Alejandro Vera Díaz is a 2023 C/MIF with a 5-10 169 lb. frame from Rio Grande, PR who attends Puerto Rico Baseball Academy. Showed good speed with a 6.71 second sixty. Primary catcher with a medium athletic build. Showed game like actions with his throws in work outs. Does a nice job sitting low in the stance and getting out of the crouch quickly with good fundamentals and plenty of arm strength down to second base. Recorded a 1.87 second pop time. On the infield the arm strength stood out throwing the ball across the diamond at 89 mph. The hands work quick with the ball gathering it and getting to the throwing hand quickly as he travels into the throws showing good athleticism. Right-handed hitter, starts with a narrow base and open stance. Creates good separation pre swing with the load and leg lift. Does a nice job staying through the ball with the upper half showing flashes of bat speed with his best contact coming to left field with carry when he gets leverage at the point of contact. Good student. Named to the 2022 Jupiter Qualifier Workout Top Prospect List.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
