Austin Dean is a 2025 LHP/1B with a 6-8 220 lb. frame from Alexandria, VA who attends Bishop Ireton. Tall and lean frame with long levers and big physical projection to the build. Primary left-handed pitcher, works from a stretch only delivery, belt high lift to balance and works down the slope with good athleticism. Full arm swing in the back to a three-quarters release, long and loose arm action. Struggled to command the zone in the early going but has begun to settle in and show the ability to throw three pitches for strikes. Fastball has been sitting in the upper-80s, getting up to 89 mph (2121 RPM). Changeup has been thrown with good arm speed and generates tons of arm-side fading action, up to 80 (1291 RPM), also throwing a harder slider with horizontal break around 80 mph (1846 RPM). Mechanics got synced up later in the outing and turned in a dominant performance. Left-handed hitter, spread stance, leg lift trigger and an uphill bat path. Stays short and compact, impacted the ball to the middle of the field and flashed some big power to the pull-side. Tons of leverage with the long arms and can run into one. Committed to Virginia Tech

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
