LATEST PG SHOWCASE REPORT
2007 National Showcase
Philip Pohl is a 2008 C/UT with a 6'0'', 195 lb. frame from Cooperstown, NY who attends Cooperstown Central HS. He has a compact, mature build with good present strength. Pohl's defensive tools are solid but not plus but he plays above his tools. He has quick feet and sound fundamentals and is a consistent, high energy defensive player. He threw 74 mph during drills with a best pop time of 1.96. Pohl's offensive package is similar. He has an aggressive swing that can get long at times but he has the ability to get the bat head to the ball and squares up well. Pohl's strength is a plus for him at the plate and he's able to muscle the ball when his timing is off. Much like his defense, Pohl hits above his raw tools and consistently hit the ball hard, not only at the National Showcase but at PG/WWBA events all summer. This young man is an overachiever who plays a premium defensive position and hits. Don't underestimate him. Pohl is also a very good student.
