2006 Mid-Atlantic Top Prospect Showcase
Kyle Long is a 2009 LHP/OF that attends Halifax County HS and resides in Halifax, VA with a 5'10", 164 lb. frame. Kyle is a solid young player that has a lean athletic build. On the mound Kyle throws from an OH arm slot with a short compact arm action. Kyle has a live arm with good arm speed and some nice cut action on his fastball. He shows a sharp 1 to 7 CB but his mechanics can get a little jerky at times. He has a tendency to open up a little early and will need to work on finishing center to the plate more. At the plate Kyle shows good bat speed and keeps his hands inside the ball well. Kyle looked very nervous at the plate, but you can see he has solid potential. In the outfield Kyle was possibly the best looking outfielder at the event. He has very smooth athletic actions to the ball and good carry on his throws. In a few years Kyle is a kid that should attract the attention of many Division I Colleges as a potential two-way player.
