Shane McGuire is a 2017 C/3B with a 6-1 200 lb. frame from Kent, WA who attends Kentwood HS. Strong athletic, build, has really added strength since last seen. Left handed hitter, hits from a wide base with a shift into contact, good hitting rhythm with very sound hitting mechanics, smooth swing with good bat speed and the ability to impact the ball, gap to gap power. Runs very well for a catcher, 6.82 in the sixty, shows athleticism and quickness behind the plate, quick transfer and release with mature footwork, receives the ball well out front with soft hands, 1.88 best pop time. Brother of Pirates top prospect and former 1st round pick Reese McGuire. Good student.
