Josh Halterman is a 2020 RHP/1B, 3B with a 6-4 180 lb. frame from Lexington, KY who attends Lafayette. Big build, lean and athletic frame, long limbs with room to fill throughout. Ran a 6.93 60 yard dash. Primary righthanded pitcher, simple side step to high leg lift delivery, stays tall on back side at gather, works to the plate with drop and drive lower half actions, clean arm action to a high 3/4 arm slot. Fastball is mostly straight but flashed occasional life to armside, located well to both sides of the plate, fastball topped out at 83 mph. Also showed a curveball with 11-to-5 shape and good depth. Also took reps at first base, mostly fluid actions with good double play turns, accurate throws with good arm strength and carry. Righthanded hitter, upright and open stance, toe tap front side timing mechanism, shifts into contact with linear actions, rotational lower half, direct path with bat wrap, line drive swing plane with good feel for the barrel, pull gap to middle of the field approach, showed some jump off his barrel, 90 mph exit velocity. Excellent student. Named to 2017 Fall Academic Top Prospect Team.
