Colin Ahearn is a 2020 LHP/OF with a 6-2 180 lb. frame from Lakeville, MA who attends Baylor HS. Extra-large, athletic frame with broad shoulders and long limbs, projectable build with room to fill throughout moving forward. Primary lefthanded pitcher, side step into leg lift up past belt with quick coil while getting tall on backside; can continue to incorporate additional lower half into drive down the mound and over front side. Works to an over-the-top release point, some effort at release, topped out at 86 mph and shows plane when on top with occasional running life. Curveball shows 1-7 shape with short depth, flashed a changeup at 75 mph and showed improvement the harder it was thrown. Similar quick arm and over-the-top slot from the outfield, up to 90 mph with best throw, takes short and quick footwork moving towards the ball and utilizes an extra step through release. Lefthanded hitter, begins with an open and spread stance, utilizes a high leg lift trigger for timing in the box. Upper body dominant swing, shows comfort turning on the ball, quickness to hands and shows barrel speed. Occasional lift out front with jump off the barrel when squared. Very good student.
