Nichols Melton is a 2022 LHP/1B/OF with a 5-9 161 lb. frame from New London, NC who attends North Stanly HS. Medium thick build with athleticism. Ran a 7.87 sixty. Left handed pitcher. Showed a slower smooth delivery with a good balance point. Throws from a low three-quarters arm slot with decent arm speed and a long loose arm action. Delivery creates some occasional crossfire. Showed good ability to pitch and mix two pitches for a strike including a fastball at 80 miles per hour and a curve-ball with one-seven break at 65 miles per hour. Also worked out at first base. Displayed an out front funnel with good arm strength topping out at 76 miles per hour to go along with developing accuracy. Flashed good footwork at first base as well. Left handed hitter. Utilizes a open upright stance with high hand and high back elbow set up. Employs a rotational pull side approach with lift and feel for the barrel. Flashed solid bat speed in batting practice as well.
