Christopher Giovengo is a 2018 SS/RHP with a 6-2 180 lb. frame from La Mesa, CA who attends Grossmont. Large frame with very good present build; good athleticism and projection throughout. Ran 60 yard dash in 7.20 seconds. Sets up to hit from even based stance with good balance, swings with intent and torques hips well into contact, has good bat speed with direct path to ball on line drive swing plane. Showed best pop to pull field with good jump off the barrel; will continue to hit for more power as he adds strength. Worked out in the infield; showed smoothness throughout actions, hands work well at the ball with clean funnel, showed quality arm strength across the diamond up to 83 mph. Pitched as well, compact delivery with long arm stroke to low three quarters arm slot, fastball worked 81-84 mph with good life to the arm side. Showed curveball with 11/5 shape and good depth; did a good job throwing strikes with both pitches. Excellent student; verbal commitment to UC-San Diego.
