Cooper Jones is a 2020 LHP/1B with a 6-3 220 lb. frame from Elizabethtown, KY who attends Central Hardin. Large frame with strong, well filled-out present build. Good strength throughout core and lower half. Ran 60 yard dash in 7.73 seconds. Primary pitcher, short and compact delivery with synchronized leg/hands lift to start. Steps toward right-handed batters box and creates crossfire, short stride to release, solid arm action with no glaring mechanical red flags. Throws from three quarters arm slot, fastball worked 78-81 MPH with good life through zone. Mixed in curveball with depth and sweeping shape, good feel for the pitch. Showed good command of both pitches and understands sequencing at an advanced level for age. Sets up to hit from upright, open stance with high back elbow and high hand set. Leg lift trigger, uphill swing path with intent to drive the ball into the air, shows good ability to drive the ball into the pull gap. Worked out defensively at 1st base, fields cleanly out front and shows solid footwork around the bag, smooth arm action with quick release across diamond up to 74 MPH. Good student.
