Lane Essary is a 2022 RHP/2B with a 6-1 175 lb. frame from Hickory, NC who attends Combine Academy. Long and athletic frame with great physical projection. Ran a 7.42 second 60-yard dash. Primary right-handed pitcher, has a really loose and controlled delivery with athleticism in how he gets down the mound. Stays on line with the lower half, uses a loose arm action with great arm speed through a just above three-quarters slot to create good run and life to the fastball as he challenged hitters with it. Gets good extension on his pitches and breaks off the slider very well with good tilt and sharp bite to it. Very good upside on the mound with results to back it. Also worked out in the infield and outfield, has solid actions in the outfield with clean funnels through the ball and arm strength that showed well at both the infield and outfield positions. Right-handed hitter, sets up narrow and slightly open, leans into contact and swings on an uphill swing path generating lifted contact with some quickness to his hands. Very good student. Verbal commitment to East Carolina. Named to 2020 Main Event Showcase Top Prospect List.
