2022 West Coast Top Prospect Games
Michael Castaneda is a 2023 RHP with a 5-11 185 lb. frame from San Jose, CA who attends Valley Christian Schools. Features a medium build with some strength present. Starts with hands at the chest and transfers into a big kick windup. Utilizes tall and fall mechanics down the mound. Stays on target well into footstrkes. Throws from an overhead arm slot. The fastball topped out at 86 mph with more velocity coming down the line. Showed good feel for a low-70’s curveball. Can create sharp, 12-6 break when thrown well. Good depth on the offering made it tough to barrel. Also flashed feel for a changeup. Quality arm speed deception makes the offering hard to pick up out of the hands. The secondary stuff makes for an intriguing profile with projectability remaining on the fastball. Excellent student. Named to the West Coast Top Prospect Games Top Prospect List.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
