Ben Pew is a 2024 LHP/1B with a 6-6 225 lb. frame from Washington, DC who attends Maret. Extra-Large, physical frame with long levers and room to add more strength. Recorded a 7.01 second sixty-yard dash time. Primary left-handed pitcher that worked exclusively from the stretch in this look. Simple, repeatable operation with good lower half engagement down the slope and deceptive lower three-quarters arm slot. Fastball worked in the low-to-mid 80s for the duration of his outing, topping out at 85 mph with explosive arm-side life. Strike thrower that mixed in two variations of his breaking ball, manipulating both speed and shape to it at times. Firmer, more cutter-like version offers an intriguing spin profile, missing bats effectively. Will continue to add more velocity with minor refinements and additional strength. Secondary first baseman with agile footwork around the bag, a clean funnel out in-front and the ability to change arm slots when necessary. Recorded arm strength up to 81 mph across the diamond during drills. Left-handed hitter that hits from a wider, slightly open stance with a high hand set and small inward stride into launch. Leveraged stroke with rotational lower half movements, compact present bat speed and strength at impact. Whole field approach with some feel for the barrel and in-game bat-to-ball skills. Displayed burgeoning power potential when on-time to the pullside. Immensely physical, intriguing prospect with tons of upside on the mound, will continue to add more velocity. Excellent Student.
