Nathan Vela is a 2023 RHP/IF with a 5-11 190 lb. frame from Greenville, WI who attends Hortonville. Strong athletic build. Works from a full wind up with a long side step start and a coiling lower half load, stays balanced over the rubber well and drives down the mound. Gets good downhill angle on a fastball that worked in the mid-80's and topped out at 87 mph, fastball was mostly straight with occasional running life. Threw a tight curveball with plenty of 11/5 depth and good arm speed as his secondary pitch. 6.75 runner in the sixty. Uses his strong lower half well in the infield on defense, works through the ball with good athleticism, tends to sweep his glove at the ball at times, compact high 3/4's arm slot throwing with plenty of carry on his throws. Right handed hitter, hits from a straight stance with a big late hand drop load that creates consistency issues, uphill swing plane, power approach, has the strength and bat speed to improve offensively with adjustments. Good student. Named to the North Indoor Showcase Top Prospect List.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
