KC Fall Softball Scouting Combine Afternoon Session
Ashlyn Steen is a 5'5, class of 2022, OF from Cedar Rapids, IA who attends Mount Vernon. Ashlyn is a truly gifted and projectable player who has the real ability to impact a number of college programs beginning next fall! She ran an advanced 3.16 20-yard dash with a 1.12 5-yard split. Both times were among the very best at the combine. Ashlyn is a true five-tool player. She can run, hit, hit for power, field and throw. There are no areas concerning her game that are not college ready. A primary OF, her twitch and athleticism are really evident. She positions quickly and confidently. She plays with an awareness usually reserved for higher level players. She attacks under control. Plays with plus momentum through the fielding action. Easy glove. Noticeably quick transition. Her 56-mph throws are firm, hold their plane, and are routinely accurate. Outstanding effort! Skilled! At the plate, this accomplished LHH has all the necessary ability to play at the next level. She has a feel for the bunt game, which she could easily incorporate into her offensive game plan. She has a veteran's approach to swinging the stick. She is balanced at the ready and is quiet to load and launch. Ashlyn has a noticeably quick trigger. She is short, direct, and quick to contact. She has loud, gap-to-gap pop and can drive the ball out of the yard. Top of the order, college ready hitter. Ashlyn is ready for the next step in her career. Whoever gets her on campus will get a player who could anchor their defense and be an offensive force for four years. Solid, projectable, talented athlete. High ceiling! Bright future!
