Matthew Richert is a 2024 RHP/ with a 6-4 178 lb. frame from Chicago, IL who attends St. Ignatius College Prep. Long athletic build with lots of physical projection ahead of him. Short and compact arm action on the mound with tight high 3/4's arm slot, pretty efficient low effort mechanics with a quick pace that adds deception, lands a bit open on his front side. Fastball topped out at 82 mph, mostly straight with occasional running life. Change up is a really nice pitch, throws it with confidence to both left and right handed hitters, gets fading action and has feel for the zone with it. Curveball has some power with 11/5 shape and good spin. Three-pitch starter type with an idea of sequencing and the ability to change speeds. Plenty more velocity there with physical maturity. Outstanding student. Named to the Pitcher/Catcher Indoor Showcase Top Prospect List.
