KC Fall Softball Scouting Combine Morning Session
Taylor Zeckser is a 5'5, class of 2024 RHP/1B, 3B from Lawrence, KS who attends Lawrence HS. Taylor is a promising two-way player who shows sound projectable ability at multiple positions and at the plate. A primary pitcher, Taylor has a solid and projectable college frame. A younger pitcher, she has a chance to be really good as she gains experience and adds strength. She has a big operation that she repeats well. She shows a plus arm action that does not vary from pitch to pitch. She incorporates a solid stride length and has obvious strength in her pitching shoulder, forearm, and hand. Commendable four pitch repertoire . Her fastball shows advanced command and control and she is able to locate to both sides of the plate and all quadrants. The FB has a bit of short rise component to it. Her change is sound now and should continue to improve as she plays/pitches more - sound feel - plus deception and shows tumble late. Drop and screwball may be her best two pitches at the moment. Drop is a big spinner and heavy. The bottom falls out late and it is a well commanded pitch. Screw is sound, big effort pitch, but spin is advanced for this level player. Plus bore with a little sink action. Taylor has big future in the circle. She'll have to continue to work on her strength and quickness so she can add velocity as her career continues. Judging by her body positive body language, she will get that done! On the infield, Taylor is fundamentally sound. She positions with routine effort and her glove plays. Her transition is quick and her 49-mph throws are sound and accurate. At the plate, Taylor has a sound and commendable approach. She has a plus feel for the bunt game and although she may not be called upon to bunt much, she is capable. She starts with a rather upright stance and incorporates a bit of negative load which works for her. When she triggers her hands, she CUTS IT LOOSE!. She never gets cheated and makes consistently loud contact. She has a plus feel for the barrel and has the power to leave the park. Overall, Taylor has big upside ability. Her game is advanced already and with continued work on the basics and in the weight room, adding strength, she'll accomplish much in the sport. Promising future!
