KC Fall Softball Scouting Combine Afternoon Session
Alexa Dusterhoft is a 5'6, class of 2023, SS/RHP, 2B, OF from Ramsey, MN who attends Anoka HS. Alexa is veteran upper class player with a solid, projectable multi-position skill set. She ran a 3.54 20-yard dash with a 1.21 5-yard split. A primary infielder, Alexa shows consistently sound footwork that allows her to position well. There is noticeable rhythm and solid timing to her fielding action. Her glove plays and her transition is routine. Her 54-mph throws show carry and accuracy. Solid effort! Alexa also took a turn in the outfield and performed quite admirably. Her quicker feet are very obvious on the grass. She positions with ease and plays through the fielding action with gathering momentum. She transitions with routine effort and her 56-mph throws are firm, hold their plane, and are highly accurate. Plus OF defender. Finally, Alexa worked in the circle, highlighting her already projectable ability. Her athletic build really plays well in the middle of the diamond. She has a solid arm operation that is highlighted by her solid lower half mechanics. She throws five projectable pitches that she has complete mastery of. Her fastball is a sound command and control pitch that she works to both edges and all quadrants. Her change-up is deceptive and is thrown with FB arm action and shows tight spin and late depth. Her screwball has big arm side bore and a little bit of rise component at the plate. Her rise is not a big jumper, but the action is late and quick. The curveball is a late, short, quick snapper that has some drop action at the dish. Alexa has a great idea of how to pitch. Sound prospect in the circle. At the plate, this RHH shows a sound ability to bunt the ball. She has a smooth and easy operation. She is short, quick, and direct to contact and shows a plus feel for the barrel. She has more of a line-drive path, but shows signs of having the ability to power pitches, too. Solid. Alexa is a promising prospect with a admirable ability in a number of areas. Should she continue to be attentive to her skill set, and find time in the weight room getting stronger, an opportunity at the collegiate level will be there. Big potential. High ceiling!
