2022 13U/14U California Workout Showcase (Sunday)
Kane Clark is a 2027 OF/LHP with a 5-4 115 lb. frame from Yorba Linda, CA. Features a smaller, lean build with athleticism. Ran an 8.08 60-yard dash. Primary outfielder. Displayed patient approach throughout defensive workouts. Quality good actions caught the ball well. Showcased a quick transition into throws. Long arm action produced accurate throws often. More arm strength should come as the frame develops more. Left-handed hitter. Utilizes a square stance with a narrow base and upright posture. Leg lift timing mechanism gathers weight well on the backside. Uses a linear bat path through the zone. Showed some feel for the barrel. Flashed the ability to drive balls to the pullside. Swinging with more intent and adding strength will help increase the power in the profile. Left-handed pitcher as well. Uses a semi-windup delivery with slight drop and drive mechanics. The simple operation gets down the mound well and is repeated fairly consistently. Ball comes out clean from a 3/4 slot using a short arm action. The fastball sat 62-64 mph with slight armside run. Locating the offering to the bottom of the zone is key. The curveball sat 52-54 mph with big, slurve-like action. Velocity difference creates some timing issues for hitters. Also flashed a changeup at 56-58 mph with fading action. Maintaining more arm speed on the offering would make it more deceptive. Has time and room to further develop mechanics and pitch mix. Very good student.
