Daniel Jay Gonzalez is a 2028 C/RHP/IF with a 5-9 145 lb. frame from Visalia, CA who attends Redwood. Young, athletic frame with square shoulders and a lean build, has room to grow and develop throughout moving forward. Ran a 7.35 60-yard dash. Primary catcher, athleticism plays in actions behind the plate and will continue to refine coming out, square stance in set up, gains short ground with footwork and replaces feet well, shows some strength on throws to second base. Looseness to actions and movements in the dirt, arm plays across the diamond, clean funnel while going up the middle and plays with rhythm. Also pitched, some drop and drive in lower half mechanics but remains on line down the mound; arm speed through the back working to a three-quarters release. Fastball topped out at 79 mph, mostly true through the zone but spotted to lower third of the zone nicely. Maintained arm speed well on changeup and showed comfort to throw it to righties, short fading life up to 73 mph, flashed a curveball at 72 mph. Right-handed hitter, begins with a wide base and even stance; loads hands back at start of swing. Swings with intent, linear path through teh zone and generates nice bat speed to the point of contact, has tools to continue to build upon, can incorporate additional lower half into mechanics.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
