KC Fall Softball Scouting Combine Morning Session
Amanda Knutson is a 5'5, class of 2023 SS/2B, OF from Bonner Springs, KS who attends Basehor-Linwood HS. Amanda is an impressively quick, twitchy and very athletic player who shows current college ready ability. Her pure straight line speed was evidenced by an impressive 3.24 20-yard dash. Her 1.16 5-yard burst explosion highlighted her quickness. A multi-positional player, Amanda shows the rare ability to project to just about any defensive spot on the field. In the outfield, she is a talent. Plus actions all the way around. Her first step quickness is highly impressive. She positions easily and plays through the fielding position with gathering momentum. Her glovework is advanced and she transitions easily to an arm that produces elite level, 64-mph throws. All her throws are firm, hold their plane, and are impressively accurate. DI level potential as an OF. As good as Amanda is in the OF, she may be a tick better as an infielder. Her quick footwork allows her to position with relative ease. Her glovework is very smooth and fluid. Her transition is elite and her 60-mph throws across the diamond were some of the best in the event. Highly accurate thrower. As if her defense wasn't enough to prove her college readiness, Amanda shows an advanced ability to swing the bat. Although she may not be asked to bunt...ever...she shows a keen ability for the short game. A RHH, Amanda can hit and hit with noticeable and projectable power, The ball sounds a lot different coming off her barrel. One of the better approaches in camp. She is balanced and incorporates a very strong lower half into each swing. She creates a great deal of torque to and through contact. She has a noticeably quick trigger. Her path to contact is short, direct, and quick. She stays inside the ball well and has LOUD gap-to-gap pop. She can, and does drive the ball, with authority, out of the park. This is elite level stuff. Big time prospect with a bat in her hands. All Amanda needs to do during the last couple of years of HS and travel ball, is to NOT get complacent. She just needs to keep her head down and keep working. Her already elite level game has room for a jump and she has the obvious attitude and apparent work ethic to get that done. Highly talented, and certain DI prospect. High Ceiling! Bright future!
