David Fernandez is a 2024 LHP/1B with a 5-10 210 lb. frame from Richmond, CA who attends De Anza. Features a bigger build with strength present. Ran a 7.71 60-yard dash. Displayed solid actions throughout first base workouts. Charges the ball well with early glove presentation. Footwork gets the body into a good fielding position. Short arm action produced accurate throws with flashes of carry. Right-handed hitter. Utilizes a wide base setup in the box. Has minimal movement pre-pitch. Displayed a linear bat path with natural loft. Uses strength well at the plate. Produces solid pullside power when on time and in sync. Continuing to use the lower half more efficiently will help boost power in the profile even more. Also a left-handed pitcher. Utilizes a semi-windup delivery with drop and drive mechanics. Throws from a low 3/4 slot with a long arm action. Still developing fluidity within the arm swing. The fastball sat 74-77 mph with flashes of ride through the zone. Has the ability to work at the top of the zone with the pitch. The curveball sat in the mid-50’s with 11-5 action. Still developing consistent bite on the offering. Changeup sat in the low-60’s with solid fading action. Quality pitch when located at the bottom of the zone. Also flashed a slider at 59-61 mph with sweeping action. Good student.
