James Very is a 2025 1B/RHP, OF with a 6-3 205 lb. frame from Bettendorf, IA who attends Pleasant Valley. Recorded a 7.62 second sixty yard dash time. Medium frame with a lean build. Primary first baseman, fields up the middle with a shorter arm action and some whip with accurate feeds. Also threw an inning on the mound. Right-handed pitcher works from a belt-high leg kick with some funk in the backside arm action with a rise and pause, longer arm action in the back before a three- quarter arm action. Coils and uncoils the lower half with a full arm swing. Worked downhill on the mound well and created downhill tilt on all three of his pitches. Solid tempo on the mound and varies the timing well with runners on. The fastball (1870 RPM) was high 70s to low 80s and reached 82 with some arm side life on occasion and also flashed some sinking action on the pitch. Curveball (2275 RPM) with 11-5 shape with good horizontal movement. Doubled up on the curveball and was effective with it throughout the appearance mixing locations with it and getting swings and misses. Also showed a change-up (1168 RPM) with some arm-side fade that he effectively kills the spin on. Right-handed hitter, starts from a wider base and high hands and high back elbow, utilizes a leg lift trigger. Some barrel whip and fluidity to it. Drives it well to the pull-side turning over the hands with some strength. Power when barrel out front with line drives to the pull-side gap. Exciting two-way player with projection as frame matures. Excellent student. Named to the Midwest Top Prospect Games Top Prospect List.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
