Matt Santoro is a 2023 LHP/OF with a 5-10 180 lb. frame from West Hartford, CT who attends Conard. Medium, square shouldered frame with a strong lower half and some more room to fill out. Primary left-handed pitcher that worked from a full windup delivery with quick, high leg lift and good lower half movements down the slope. Creates good rhythm and tempo during delivery with subtle hand pump and some deception with how he hides the baseball. Fastball worked in the upper-70s to low-80s for the duration of his outing, showed tons of life to the pitch and topped out at 83 mph in this look. Incorporates shorter arm action into a higher three-quarters arm slot, displays plenty of present speed and should continue to see some velocity upticks as he physically matures. Strike thrower with pretty good command to both sides of the plate, fastball shows some natural arm-side run and breaking ball has short, downer action to it and late bite. Has the ability to land for strikes and generate plenty of swings-and-misses. Left-handed hitter that hits from an even stance with a tight hand set, high back elbow and leg lift trigger for timing. Incorporates rotational lower half movements and deep, lower hand load to get the swing going. Pullside approach with some feel for the barrel and strength at impact, occasionally gets top-hand driven and loses his upper half. Flashed some power potential when in-sync and on-time. Will continue to improve with proper swing adjustments and additional strength. Projectable framed pitcher with good pitch ability and velocity upside. Good Student.
