2023 13U/14U Sunshine West Showcase
Austin Olness is a 2027 3B/RHP/OF with a strong 6-0 175 lb. frame from Los Angeles, CA who attends Mira Costa. Started off the event clocking a 6.97 60-yard dash. A primary third baseman that pitches. Defensively, Olness shows fundamentally sound mechanics, clean actions and works through the baseball with confidence. Has present arm strength and was accurate with his throws across the diamond. Offensively, he starts in an upright stance with a 2-piece loading mechanism. Shows raw bat speed and excellent intent in the swing where he was able to produce line-drives. Has some pull side power when he times it up. On the mound, He shows a 2-pitch mix (FB, CB) out of a 3/4 arm slot. Shows and abbreviated wind-up with tall & fall mechanics. Works linear and downhill. Hides the ball well creating deception with his short arm action. A strike thrower that overwhelmed hitters at times with his fastball. Curveball had late break with 12/6 shape. Good student.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
