Douglas McIntyre is a 6'4", 200 lb. middle infielder and pitcher in the 2006 class from Houston, Texas. He has an outstanding athletic body with good present strength and some projectability. McIntyre hits from a tall open stance with some significant bat wrap that gives him some length to his swing and keeps him from showing the raw power he might have with wood. Defensively, McIntyre’s arm works well, but his speed projects him to first base in the future. Although he only threw 77-79 mph on the mound, we liked what we saw of McIntyre as a pitcher the most. He has a lot of forward drift in his delivery, and could probably add some velocity right away by staying back better. What really caught our attention was a 70 mph slurve that McIntyre threw. It had very late, tight break to it and was a very sharp pitch at times that hitters had no chance against.
