2005 South Top Prospect Showcase
Hamilton is a 5-10, 170 lb senior second baseman from San Antonio. He ran the 60 in 7.52 and showed good arm strength during infield drills at 81 mph. Hamilton's best tool looks like his bat. He does a good job of keeping his weight and hands back and driving through the ball in his swing. Hamilton has good hand strength and hits the ball hard to all fields. He didn't have many hits during the games but hit the ball hard consistently at fielders. Defensively, Hamilton has good arm strength on double plays. He made a great diving catch going back in centerfield that showed his aggressiveness. He needs to work on his quickness and footwork in getting in front of ground balls better. Overall, Hamilton is a hustling ballplayer who does many intangible things well and looks like a winner.
