2022 PG CPBL Fall Prospect Games
John Genco is a 2024 SS/RHP/IF with a 5-10 180 lb. frame from Woodbridge, ON who attends Holy Cross Academy. Medium, athletic frame with square shoulders and some present strength to frame, additional room to fill moving forward. Ran a 7.88 60-yard dash. Primary shortstop, sound actions in the dirt and works behind the ball well, comes through the ball cleanly and actions played well in live actions, momentum into throws and shows nice present arm strength and carry on to first base. Also pitched, athleticism plays in delivery and incorporates lower half well coming down the mound; short arm action through the backside working to a three-quarters release point. Fastball topped out at 80 mph, some effort at release, shows riding life through the zone and able to locate north/south. Slider showed short tilting action with bite and ability to miss bats with it. Switch-hitter, shifts well through lower half with left-handed swing, repeats mechanics well and shows a handle for the barrel with solid contact coming off; longer stroke from the right side, incorporates legs well into swing and shows feel for the barrel. Found the barrel well in live action as well. Excellent student. Named to the PG CPBL Fall Top Prospect List.
