Gavin O'Brien is a 2027 SS/RHP/2B with a 5-7 120 lb. frame from Garner, NC who attends Athens Drive. Very slender young build. 8.21 runner in the sixty. Primary middle infielder on defense, moves his feet well and has a good idea on his footwork, arm strength still developing, throws best from a lower arm slot and looked most comfortable at second base in the games. Right handed hitter, hits from an open stance with turned in front foot, can start from a more athletic and balanced load, high to low hand action, big leg raise, lots going on before the swing starts, has some barrel accuracy that will help him as a hitter as he gets stronger. Also pitched, works from the stretch with a quick slide step to the plate, arm can get behind his lower half at times, lands very closed and throws across his body. Worked mostly arm side with a mid-60's fastball and soft curveball.
