2023 Northern California Workout Showcase (Saturday)
Ben Skiles is a 2024 C/OF with a 5-10 160 lb. lean athletic frame from Oakland, CA who attends Bishop O Dowd High School. At the plate he starts in a slightly open balanced stance. Showed good rhythm and hand separation in his initial load. Showed a controlled violent swing with good intent. Employed an all-fields approach in his BP round and squared up the baseball consistently. Back-spinned a few hard hit balls in the gap. Defensively showed a comfortable set up behind the plate. Skiles demonstrated sound foot/glove mechanics and transfers were smooth with a quick short release. Throws to second base were online and on the bag. Clocked a 7.15 60-yard dash. Excellent student.
