Cole Torrey is a 2027 OF/RHP, 1B, 3B, SS with a 5-7 165 lb. medium sized durable frame from Clayton, CA who attends Northgate. At the plate he sets up in a slightly open stance. Shows good hand separation and rhythm in his pre-pitch load before firing to the ball on a downward swing plane. A simple swing that creates backspin. Squared the ball up consistently using a pull approach in his BP round. Currently has gap power. Defensively in the outfield he showed good form and used the proper foot/glove mechanics on approach to the ball. FIelded the ball cleanly and got rid of it quickly. Has a developing arm that was accurate to the bases. On the mound Torrey has simple mechanics with a repeatable low effort delivery out of a low 3/4 slot. Has the ability to throw strikes and attack hitters. The fastball showed some arm-side tail and the changeup had fading action down in the zone. Curveball acted like a slider at times but got hitters to chase.
